New Car!

With Robert working in Montgomery and me only working 3 minutes from our house, he drives the Civic and I was driving the truck. I hated driving the truck but I did because it made no sense for Robert to waste all that gas driving it to Montgomery everyday. About a year or so ago, the truck started having little problems. One time it randomly broke down on me in the middle of an intersection! Robert's a mechanic so he checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong with it other than it needing an oil change and a tune up. It finally quit acting crazy so I just sucked it up and continued to drive it. I hated it, he loved it. I hated how loud it was and how redneck I probably looked driving a truck; but I drove it because it made sense. After Robert wrecked the Civic in January and we got spoiled with the nice rental car for a month, I decided I didn't want to drive the truck anymore. It made me realize just how bad the truck drove. It did horrible over bumps, it was hard to get going and it would still randomly break down. Still there was nothing wrong with the truck, it just needed a tune up. The more I thought about it, the more it didn't make sense to put anymore money in the truck. For one, the truck had over 126,000 miles on it. What could start out as just a tune up could easily turn into a lot more. Not only that but I didn't want to spend the money on a tune up just for something else to happen later. Second, we are running out of room in both cars. The civic is too small for Bryson, much less more kids (if we ever decide to have any). The truck had enough room for more kids in the back but no space for storage. How would I go to the grocery store with more than 1 kid? How would we go on vacation with no where to put our luggage? I finally convinced Robert that it was time to start looking for another car. I had just quit my job but he told me if I went back to work full time, we could get rid of the truck and get a new car. I went immediately and put my resume in at Primrose. As soon as I got the job, I started looking. We waited until we got our income tax in before we got serious about looking. I was thinking something like a Nissan Pathfinder or a Honda Pilot would be plenty of room. I found a great deal on a used Nissan Pathfinder online so we went to check it out. It was beautiful! I loved the color, the heated leather seats, the back up camera, etc. It had everything, except enough room. I was very shocked and surprised when I got in the drivers seat and saw just how close the back seat was to the front seats. I guess you lose space when they add the 3rd row? I was very disappointed. Since we got to the dealership so late, they let us drive it home to test it out. Thank goodness they did because I was ready to buy it that night. Once we got it home and got Bryson's car seat in it, I knew we couldn't get it. There was just not enough room. But it was a beautiful car.

I was so disappointed. I didn't think we could afford a car that was big enough. We called our dealer and told him that we were not interested in the Pathfinder and that we were bringing it back that night. I was looking on their website and saw a used Armada for a great deal. We asked them if we could see that and they said it wasn't on their lot and that they could only get it if we were buying it. Well of course we are not going to buy a car that we have never seen or driven before. I think after they found out we were not interested in the Pathfinder but were interested in the Armada, the knew they couldn't make a sell with us unless we got a great deal. I got an email from one of the managers saying they could sell us a 2013 Armada for dirt cheap and give us more for our truck. We went that night to talk numbers and drive the Armada. As soon as they pulled up in the Armada, we knew that's what we wanted. We wanted it even more once we got behind the wheel. We knew we wanted it, but wanted to think about it over night before deciding on such a big purchase. Thankfully they let us take that one home. We both loved it! It drove great and had plenty of room. It also made Robert feel a little bit better about trading in the truck. The only thing we didn't like about that one was the color. It was a brownish color with tan interior. We wanted a little bit darker exterior and dark interior. When we told them that, they told us we could chose whatever color we wanted and they would get it for us. The only problem was, we chose a color where the closest one was located in Georgia so we had to wait a few days to get. I'm so glad we did because it is beautiful!

Getting rid of the truck was bittersweet. As much as I hated driving it, we had a lot of memories in the truck. Our wedding, honeymoon, moving into our first home, having a baby, graduations, many trips... the list goes on and on. It was a good truck and gave us a lot of memories but it was time to move on and we are so happy with our new car. We checked the website and the truck sold in less than a week. I just hope whoever bought it has just as much fun in it as we did!
