Bryson's 4th Birthday-Part Two

Even though we celebrated Bryson's birthday the day before, we still wanted to do something on his actual birthday, March 1. It was a beautiful day so we went to the zoo! We started off the day by opening some small gifts from us. We got him a stuffed Sonic the Hedgehog (which sadly he wasn't as excited about it as I thought he would be), the book Happy Birthday to You! by Dr. Seuss, and of course his birthday shirt. Every year he gets a shirt that matches the theme of his party. This year it was Wreck it Ralph.

After gifts, it was time to head to the zoo. I thought for nice weather on a Saturday that it would be packed! Thankfully it wasn't at all. Bryson was very interested in finding the flamingos. He enjoyed looking at all the other animals but he kept grabbing the map and trying to find where the flamingos were. He loved all of the animals, especially the petting zoo. When we finally got to the flamingos, he didn't really care to see them. I don't know if it's because it was one the last things we saw and he was just ready to go, or if they didn't look like what he thought they would look like. Even thought he wasn't that interested in them when we got there, he still chose a stuffed flamingo to take home in the gift shop.  This was Bryson's first trip to the Birmingham zoo and he loved it, so we will hopefully go back again soon.

Bryson loves going to Krispy Kreme and watching them make donuts so we stopped by there on the way to dinner for a small treat and get some for the next mornings breakfast.

For dinner, we went to Joe's Italian. This has turned into a tradition for Bryson's birthday. For his first and second birthday, we ate at Lucia's in Helena which was owned by the same family. They have the best strawberry cake I have ever had and the slices are huge! I was sad when they closed but Joe's is owned by the same family, and the cake is the same, so now we go there. Me and Bryson always share a pizza and he gets the strawberry cake.

(I'm not sure why I'm getting on to him in this picture, but I love his face)

One of the gifts he received was a gift card to Build a Bear from Amy, Erin and Eli. I've always wanted to take him there, but it's so expensive. On this trip, they had superhero bears. He chose to make a Spiderman bear. He had so much fun. He warmed the bears heart, stuffed him, and gave him a bath. Then he chose his costume and we took him home! It was so much fun and he was so cute.

On Monday, we took cupcakes to school to celebrate with his school friends. I found some that looked a lot like Play-doh so Bryson was happy. It was an exciting and fun weekend celebrating Bryson's birthday. He was so sad that it was over, but then we reminded him that his birthday party was the next weekend! He was so happy and thankful that we celebrate birthdays for more than one day in our house.

 Happy Birthday Bryson!
