December 2014

December was a busy month in our house. We got Christmas started a few days later than normal since we went on vacation for Thanksgiving. Elfie made his return to our house right after we got back from New York. Bryson loves when he comes to visit and loves to see what crazy stuff he does during the night. His favorite part about Elfie is Christmas Eve. Elfie lets Bryson hold him all day Christmas Eve before going back to the North Pole.

Bryson thought it was so funny that Elfie played with his Legos.

Elfie brought him some new dinnerware.

 He decorated Bryson's fort.

He took some pictures of some random things around the house.

This is always one of Bryson's favorites.

 He played Bryson's video games.

He hung out in his new stocking from Aunt Lisa.

 He made a Christmas countdown.

 Bryson didn't understand this one.

And of course he put underwear on the tree.

Every year the city of Helena has a Christmas parade. Our school was going to decorate one of the buses and drive in it. They asked if any of the kids wanted to ride and throw candy. I thought Bryson would want to watch the parade, but he wanted to ride on the bus. He had so much fun and got to see a lot of people he knew on the way.

After the parade, Robert went home and started putting up Christmas lights. We usually do white lights on our house and on our tree, but this year Bryson wanted colored lights. I think it turned out pretty good! Bryson loved going through all of the ornaments and putting them on the tree. It's fun to see all the Hallmark ornaments Bryson gets. Each year he gets a new and we chose it based on what he likes. For the past few years he has been able to chose his own. This year he chose Jack from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, last year he chose Spider man, and the year before that he chose Eva from Wall-E. We also buy him some too. This year Lola got him a bunch of Star Wars ornaments.

Every year we make a gingerbread house. I guess we waited too long to buy one because when I went to the store they were sold out. They did have a little gingerbread village and I actually think Bryson liked this better than doing just one house.

Robert still had a few vacation days left around Christmas, so he took one of those days off so he could go to Bryson's school party. I'm so glad he was able to go. I was in the room right next door and was supposed to get off at 3 but the teacher that was supposed to let me go, never showed up. I was so disappointed that I missed his party and had to work over-time. He had a lot of fun celebrating Christmas with his friends. That day was also our Polar Express/pajama day at school. All the kids came to school in their pajamas. We popped popcorn, made hot chocolate, and watched the Polar Express. It was a fun day.

We procrastinated on visiting Santa this year. None of the Santa's around us are very good so we drive all the way to Leeds to see him. The only bad thing is, so does everybody else. Bass Pro Shops has this nice little area set up to see Santa with a free carousel and activities for the kids to do. I was not feeling well at all so I stood in line while Bryson got to explore and play. Thankfully it only took about an hour to get to him and Bryson loved him. He showed him the ornament he wanted while waiting and told him everything he wanted.

Lisa also wanted to spend some time with Bryson during her Christmas break. She picked him up early from school one and took him to Lola's house to bake cookies. He had a lot of fun with them. He loves to help cook.
