Peavine Falls

Robert loves to go hiking. He usually goes with him friends to hike, kayak, and camp but this time he wanted to take Bryson. It was a beautiful day so he took him to Peavine Falls at Oak Mountain. Bryson had so much fun. I packed them both a picnic lunch and they sat by the falls and ate lunch. Bryson is a pretty good hiker. He didn't seem to have any problem climbing up and down the hills. After their hike, they drove to the petting zoo at Oak Mountain. He loved all the animals. For some reason he named them all Robert! Bryson loves being outside no matter where we go so I'm sure once the weather stays warm, there will be plenty more weekend hiking trips in our future.

Ice Skating

In January, our friends wanted everybody to get together and go ice skating. Bryson had never been before so I thought it sounded like fun! I had a lot of stuff to do that day so I couldn't stay too long but I wanted to go and watch his first time ice skating. When we got there, we thought that we could get ice skates for Bryson and one of us could just walk on the ice with him, but they wouldn't let us. Since I wasn't staying long it didn't make sense for me to pay money for ice skates so Robert said he would. I had no idea that he had never been ice skating before. It was so fun to watch him and Bryson go around the rink. They both had a lot of fun. Bryson had no idea how to use the skates but he was really good walking in them. He fell one time, but he didn't care. He got right back up and kept on going! It is definitely something we will be doing again; but maybe when he's a little bit older.

Busy February

We had a pretty busy February in our house. I quit my job the end of January and took a few weeks off before starting a new  one the beginning of February. So far we are very happy. I'm still trying to get used to working full time hours but so far it hasn't been that bad. We now go to Primrose School of Riverwoods here in Helena. It's 3 minutes down the road from our house so we still save on gas and we can still sleep in some no matter what hours we work. I have the toddler classroom. It's been a long time since I've had a group this young. They are a sweet bunch of kids and a lot of fun, but I do miss the teaching part of having an older classroom. I love all of my co-teachers so far and my bosses are wonderful! Bryson is officially in preschool. He is actually a class ahead of what he should be but he is doing wonderful! The kids in his class are turning 4 and he just turned 3 but he fits right in. He is so smart already but he has learned so much more since starting this school. He knows that 3+3=6, red and blue make purple, and he can write his name (along with a lot more other new stuff too). I'm so proud of how smart he is. They have a lot of extra curricular activities at this school too. He did gymnastics at his last school and I thought about doing it again here. They have soccer, tennis, dance and gymnastics to choose from. We decided on soccer. So far he has had 3 classes and he loves it! They won't play any actual games but he does learn soccer techniques and how to follow directions from the coach. This is really a good test to see if we want to play Fall Ball this year.
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I wanted to go all out for his friends at school but I ran out of time. I found the cutest little robot's made from candy on Pinterest and wanted to make them, but when I quit my job, I didn't think we would be working on Valentine's Day. Then when I decided to go back to work, we just had so much going on that I ran out of time. But Bryson did get to choose Spiderman Valentine's for his friends. We bought him some  yummy treats to have when we got home and we had Bryson's favorite food for dinner, Pizza!
We are still trying to adjust to working full time but so far it's working great. As long as Bryson is happy at this school, I plan on staying until he goes to Kindergarten. Can't beat half price child care right?! Here are a few pictures from our busy February!

January Snow!!!

Snow is rare here in Alabama, so when it happens (or there's even a chance for it to happen), we get very excited. The local weathermen had been talking about the chance for snow for a few days, but I honestly didn't think it would happen. I was at work and kept waiting for it to start, but nothing. Finally, a little after lunch, it started to snow! And not just flurries, big huge snowflakes! I looked at my weather app to see how much was on the map and there was a ton. I kept checking to see if Shelby County would have the schools close early, but no such luck. They never close early but thankfully I got off at 2pm so we were able to enjoy it. By the time I got off, it was really coming down. It had already started to stick to the ground and roads and it was very hard to see while driving. Thankfully I only live a few minutes down the road from work so it was no problem getting home. When we got home, we ran in, threw all of our stuff down and went back outside to play in it! Bryson didn't know what to think at first. He just stood there and stared at it. He then decided he wanted a snowman, but he didn't want to make it. He wanted me to make it. So I got to work. Bryson just stood there and watched me. He refused to touch any of the snow. Once I was done with our puny little snowman, he was so excited. He loved him! He talked about him for days. But soon after that he decided he was done in the snow and wanted to go in and drink some hot chocolate. Even though it wasn't much, I'm glad we had one day of decent snow. Hopefully before the winter is over we will have more, but since it's already March, I highly doubt it will happen. Here are some pictures from our fun snow day!
