Fall 2014

Time really needs to slow down. It's hard to believe it's almost Christmas! We had a very busy fall. One of Bryson's favorite things was the Marvel Universe live show. Martha's brother in law, Terry was able to get us tickets to take Bryson and Will to see the show. We had an extra ticket and were able to invite my dad to come with us. The boys had so much fun and the seats were awesome! I know my dad enjoyed the time he got to spend with Bryson and Will. Bryson's favorite part was the very end when the Hulk came out. He talked about that for weeks!

Bryson also started his first sport this fall, soccer. For most of the season he just ran around the field but by the end of the season he got the hang of it and started having some fun!

We also had our yearly firetruck visit at school. Bryson was not as interested in it as I thought he would be. He did enjoy sitting in the firetruck though.

We enjoyed watching a lot of Auburn football with our friends. Sadly it wasn't the best season we've had but we still love our team. It's always nice to get together with everybody to watch a game. It's funny how much things have changed over the years. Now instead of just adults staying up late watching the game, we all have our kids with us and are usually too tired to stay up late.

Halloween kind of sneaked up on us this year. We were late putting our decorations up, late carving and painting pumpkins, and late visiting the pumpkin patch. Bryson and Lisa kind of have a tradition of painting a pumpkin together. This year he chose Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Between football games, soccer games and birthday parties, we couldn't find the time to go to a big pumpkin patch. We weren't too worried about since his class was taking a field trip to Old Baker Farm but we still wanted to go as a family. We found a small pumpkin patch a few exits up from us. It wasn't a real pumpkin patch but Bryson enjoyed the jumpy house, the big slide, and the hay ride. Of course it took him forever to chose a pumpkin though.

Bryson had fun carving his pumpkin he picked out. He loves Star Wars and thankfully we found a Star Wars pumpkin carving kit. He looked through the whole thing and decided he wanted to carve Grievous pumpkin.  It turned out really good and Bryson loved it!

Bryson also went on his first field trip this fall! We visited Old Baker Farm. We watched them feed the animals. the kids played in the hay, we went on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch where the kids were able to choose their own pumpkin, we ate lunch in a barn and they kids also got to pet some of the farm animals. Bryson had fun but I think his favorite part was the bus ride. He talked about riding the bus more than the pumpkin patch.

Bryson loves being outside and he loves going on hikes with his daddy. Thankfully we had some nice weather so they were able to go on a nature hike. His teacher sent home a nature scavenger hunt in his folder and Bryson really wanted to go find everything on the list. They had a lot of fun spending the day together looking for everything on the list.

End of Summer 2014

Another fun-filled summer has come and gone. We stayed pretty busy this year so it seemed like it flew by (thank goodness because I hate the hot weather). Bryson started Pre-K in August. I can't believe that next year we will have a kindergartener. Hopefully they won't start back as early as they did this year. Whatever happened to school starting back after Labor Day?

Since Bryson started Pre-K, we decided it was finally time to get him a big boy bed. For some reason it was harder to say good-bye to the toddler bed then it was to say good-bye to the crib. Bryson was so excited to have his first big boy bed. We started looking online for new bedding for him. I was hoping he would have wanted to stick with pirate bedding since we still have the treasure map mural on his wall, but he chose Star Wars. Lola also got him some Lego movie sheets that he really likes too. A new bed means more room! We were able to move a lot of his big stuff into his bedroom so we finally have a mostly kid free living room.

Me and Robert were able to go to an Auburn game. It was nice to go just the two of us but it was so hot! Before having Bryson, we would go to Auburn every weekend during football season and we never remember it being that hot. It was miserable. It was nice to be there for an Auburn win and go to Toomer's Corner. They dug up the trees at Toomer's Corner so it looks completely different and it was not as fun. They have poles hanging over the streets for people to roll but it's just not the same.

We officially ended the summer with a trip to Oak Mountain with Eli. Bryson loves spending time with him and they always have fun when they are together.They did a little hiking, rock climbing and swimming. Bryson had a lot of fun in the boat.
