Christmas Eve 2014

I just realized I never posted about Christmas!

We started our Christmas Eve off just like we do every year. Sleeping in and being lazy before all the madness of Christmas begins. We then started all of our traditional Christmas Eve baking. We began with making Christmas cookies for Santa. I never can figure out how to make them cookie cutter cookies. We usually try but this year we decided to just do round cookies and let Bryson decorate them. He loves helping us cook.

After making cookies, we made a birthday cake for Jesus. This is something that I did as a kid growing up and we have done it every year with Bryson. Once the cake was done, we let Bryson do all of the decorating. We then lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus! It's a great way to start celebrating the real meaning of Christmas.

Once we were finished baking, we headed to church with Robert's family. We then went to go eat our traditional IHOP dinner before going to look at Christmas lights. We found this house by Robert's sisters house that had so many lights on it. Bryson loved it.

Of course Bryson fell asleep on the way home so we had to set out the cookies and egg nog for Santa. Thankfully Santa came shortly after Bryson fell asleep so we were all able to get in the bed early.

February 2015

February was another busy month. It started off with Valentine's Day. I've never been big on celebrating Valentine's Day but I love doing stuff for Bryson. I took him to Target to choose the Valentine's he wanted to give to his friends. I really thought he would have chosen Star Wars, but instead he chose Big Hero 6. He also wanted to get something a little special for his "girlfriend" and best friend. He chose a little puppy and some chocolates for his "girlfriend" and chocolate rose for his best friend. It was the cutest thing watching him buy something for those sweet girls. He also wanted to make his "girlfriend" a card.

The day before Valentine's Day, he had a party at school. Since my class party was a few minutes earlier, I was able to make it to the end of his party.

I always buy Bryson a little something to wake up to on Valentine's Day. Target had a ton of Star Wars stuff that he loved. He came shopping with me when I bought them so I had to hide them in the buggy. He saw a coffee cup he wanted to get Robert for Valentine's Day. Me and Robert don't usually get each other something for Valentine's Day but I really did like that coffee cup, so I let Bryson get it.

Robert had to run to Walmart for a few things and Bryson wanted to go with him. While they were there, Bryson picked out a few things to get me. (I really think he chose the giant Rice Krispie treat for himself). I love that Bryson remembered what my favorite candy bar was.

Valentine's Day was also the start of baseball practice. Bryson has never played ball before. I signed him up for t-ball then found out he was too old to play t-ball. They put him on what I thought was a 5 year old team. 5 year old rules say the child gets 5 pitches from the coach and if they don't hit it after 5, they can hit off a tee. I was ok with this. Then I found out that not enough 5 year olds signed up so he was playing with the 5 year olds. This worried me because at the time he was only 4. The 6 year old rules say they only get 3 pitches and no tee. Thankfully the umpires petitioned to get the rules changed just for the 5 year olds so now Bryson gets 5 pitches instead of 3. He already seems to like baseball a lot more than soccer.

January 2015

So far 2015 has been a very busy year. We started off the year by having a New Year's Eve dinner just the 3 of us at Steak and Shake. We then went home to watch the New York ball drop and toast to the New Year. Bryson loved drinking the sparkling grape juice at midnight.

Robert took him downtown to the Lego Brickfair. Of course he loved it. He got to build with Legos and look at all the big sets everybody had built.

We also took Bryson to the circus for the first time. We had an extra ticket so we invited my mom since my dad went with us to Marvel Live. I really thought Bryson would have liked the circus because he talked about it so much but he didn't. He was bored the whole time. He did like seeing the elephants and the tigers but they were only on stage for a short period of time.
