Easter 2015

This year we waited until the last minute to go see the Easter Bunny so our only option was to go to the Galleria which charges a ridiculous amount of money for one picture. I still wanted him to see the Easter Bunny so he sat on his lap and I took a picture with my phone. There was no way I was going to pay $20 for one picture.

When we got home, we started dying Easter eggs. This year I found a Star Wars egg dying kit. It even came with a few miniature glow sticks that looked like light sabers. He had so much fun dying the eggs this year since he could do most of it all by himself.

After dying eggs, we started a new tradition this year. We made resurrection rolls. I have been wanting to do this for the past few years but never had the time. We did them together with Bryson and explained what each part meant. The crescent roll represents the tomb. Then he put a marshmallow in the middle of the crescent roll to represent the body of Christ. The marshmallow is rolled in butter and cinnamon to represent the oils and spices the body was annoited with before burial. We then put them in the oven to bake. Once they were done the marshmallow was gone leaving a hallow center representing that the body of Christ was no longer there. He really enjoyed doing this. They didn't turn out that pretty but they tasted good and helped Bryson understand why we celebrate Easter.

The Easter Bunny came to visit Bryson while he was sleeping and brought him all of his favorite things: gum, cotton candy, Slim Jim's and Lego's. He even got a new Yoda Easter basket this year.

After seeing what the Easter Bunny brought, we headed to St. Peter's for church with Robert's family.

We then headed to lunch at Aunt Evelyn's house with my family. She always makes the best food and desserts and loves watching Bryson and Will play. After we ate, the boys had an Easter egg hunt.

We ended our Easter with dinner at Amy's house with  Robert's family (minus Lola since she was in the Phillipines). It was too late to do another egg hunt but Bryson always has so much fun playing over there with Eli.
The next day at school, our class had an egg hunt for the kids. Bryson had so much fun hunting Easter eggs with his friends on the playground.

Bryson's 5th Birthday Party

Bryson loves Star Wars, especially Lego Star Wars. So this year he wanted a Lego Star Wars birthday party. I always struggle with where to have his party at because in my opinion, party places charge way too much money. I was trying to avoid a park party since we did one last year, but we couldn't find anywhere else reasonably priced. We chose to do it at Veteran's Park in Alabaster. It was a bigger pavilion with a playground right next to it. One of my former co-workers husband has his own Lego party business. He brings all of his Lego's and has the kids play games and build mini figures. That was the perfect thing for Bryson to have at his party and it made the party so much easier. I was actually able to socialize with the adults instead of keeping the kids entertained. This was by far the easiest birthday party I have ever thrown. Bryson had a blast! As always, Amy made his cake. This year Lisa bought the balloons. She got him this awesome Darth Vader balloon but she also found a life size R2-D2 balloon that he loved! I love looking on Pinterest for party ideas and it was filled with a ton of awesome ideas that made putting his party together a piece of cake.
